Answered Prayers

Not sure if you have ever heard us talk about some of our friends. I am not going to mention names but I cannot not tell you this story. They tried and tried to have a baby, spent a gazillion dollars on IVF and finally gave up on it and decided to adopt. The adoption process is ultra complicated and not quick. The agency they worked with presented an opportunity to be foster parents. They were torn. What would happen if they got attached? What kind of terrible story would they have to witness? How would they give the baby back? How would they ever foster again if this happened? The list goes on and on. When I think about this, it makes me cringe. I cannot imagine being faced with the decision. They decided to give it a shot and before too long, got "that call". There was a little boy (3 months) who had been taken from his parents due to neglect. How this can even happen I just can't fathom. They accepted the challenge and quickly adjusted to being parents. For this little boy, they were the only parents he had really ever known. They went from married to married with a child in a matter of days. They didn't have 9 months to prepare and buy stuff, find a daycare, get used to not sleeping. One day without a child, the next day with. They celebrated all the firsts with this little guy...his first tooth, first time sitting up, crawling, walking, birthday etc.

Fast forward 2.5 years and another gazillion court dates later, and the little boy is officially theirs. The adoption was finalized this past Friday. Its something we have prayed for for the last 2.5 years. Its a struggle that I would not wish on my worst enemy. He's finally theirs and their family is finally complete.

This child is right where he is supposed to be with an amazing loving family. Thank you Lord!
