Summer summer, summertime!

The last day of school was bittersweet for all of us today. Alicyn has had such an amazing journey thorough Kindergarten. Mrs. Farque could not have been more of a blessing, she was the perfect teacher for Alicyn and for Rich and I. Friday morning after taking Jaxon to school we headed back to TVE to participate in Kinder water activities. We spent 2 hours outside playing different games, and just getting to be kids. Rich and I missed Field day cause of the dreaded trip to London, so we were bound and determined to be there for this one. Alicyn had fun, although we left a little early to go see Getman cause she was complaining of her ear hurting. Good thing we did, she has an ear infection. She was able to go back to school to finish out the day with her class. At the end of the day, I went inside to sign Mrs. Farque's class picture (she asked the parents to sign the back). As I walked in, she was doing the normal hugging the kids as the leave but this time she was Bawling! Which of course, meant I was too. There were many parents in the room, all bawling!! I think the reality that our kids were growing up, the fact that we all knew that we were the "lucky ones" this year for getting the best kinder teacher in the whole school, and the fact that our 23 year old teacher was so sad to have to say goodbye to our kids, made for one big cry fest. The kids, handled it much better than we all did, that's for sure. I just can't say enough about how wonderful of a teacher this woman is. I posted emails that we got throughout the year but do you know that she only missed 2 daily emails all year long. Who does that? My cousin is a Kindergarten teacher, I was telling her about Mrs. Farque and how she was so good at communication, and about how she had just the right about of love, but was never lost control of the room, she was firm but loving. It was amazing to watch her in the room, anyway, Kelly was in disbelief that she sent daily emails. But she did, everyday without fail (minus the 2 days that she was off). It was so nice to have this daily cause it gave us a conversation starter. Here's how the conversation goes without the email, "how was your day?"...Good. That's it, one word answer extravaganza. With the email, we could ask about specifics that they had learned today which triggered all the memories for Alicyn! Really cool, I told her through my tears, that teaching was in the perfect job for her!!!! I just hope we get a good 1st grade teacher, I am sure she will be nothing compared to Mrs. Farque! So now we are on to summer. Alicyn will be heading to Disney World in the next few days with my mom, grandma, uncle Ken, Lindsey & Sara. Oh how glad I am that I am not going. Disney is cool but there needs to be an invention on how to get places without having to travel to get there. When she gets back, its off to camp. Not overnight camp, just day camp. The whole summer except for this week and the week she returns from Disney are booked!
Happy Summer!!!!
