Windsor Castle

After a couple of days of procrastination and catching up on my sleep, my vacation and sight seeing really got started. At first I started by beating the streets (yes walking, I now know why most of the Europeans are skinny......They walk everywhere!!!!!!) so i walked through the city we are a 45 minute walk away from, Wokingham. Small, I walked around the town in a total of 3 hours, with help of wonderful shops of sandwiches and pastries....if Alicyn was with me that is all we would do I'm sure....eat the donuts:) I had to eat one for her..

My first day other than Wokingham had a couple of firsts. My first train ride into a city. I had one switch that was confusing, but all you need to do ask someone, no matter how they look, business like or ruff on the edges, they will help you out. My first castle happened to be Windsor. Needless to say MAJESTIC!!!!! And you will pay attention of your surroundings standing next to the guard holding a semi-automatic rifle; finger on the trigger and ready for NO nonsense.

Your not allowed to take pictures of the inside, but the architecture is truly amazing. The Cathedral still has open to the public service (continuously for some 600 years...WOW). We're gonna try to go this Friday. It's just huge, they have a room for any occasion, a huge doll room, many rooms to show off their collections of war, rooms of goods collected from past wars, paintings of the defeated, leaders, kings, queens, kids, dogs, a table that seats 175, and ample supply of armor suits....

Photos of the castle are great so enjoy. I like all the gargoyles they have on the outside of the building to scare off "potential" enemies, as they say. I took one with three because it reminded of Alicyn Jaxon and myself (they all have silly faces..he he he).

The part of the castle with the flag pole and MOAT was the first part ever constructed. The rest of the castle has been added onto from all the past kings and rulers that ran the country and castle. Just not the British have occupied the castle, but those of the French, Spanish and British..Its perfectly situated on top of the largest hill around, so they said if you were planning an attack on the castle, you would be spotted for miles away before you arrived and not only did you have to make it to the castle, you then had to make it around the river and over huge walls just to engage in fighting. Too much effort needed for me to want to do that, but I guess you really had to be mad at whom ever to do so.:)

The picture of the bear is a purchase I've done for Alicyn from the Royal Collection of Bears. Here is your stuffed animal SugarPlum!! It's traveling with me to keep me safe and to keep me company. Don't forget to look up at the stars when your missing Mommy and Daddy because we are looking at the same stars you are and that way we will always be together. We miss you and Hunk-a-Chunk (JT) tons. She still don't have a name, so can do that for me?..
