PTA Rant

I'll just start this off that I am in a bit of a mood, not really a bad mood but not a good one either, just kinda in between.

Doing Alicyn's homework tonight, she told me for the 34th time that we needed to buy these magazines so she could get a prize ducky for selling them. I am not a fan of school fundraisers, can you tell? Well, this one came along with a big note that says its not sponsored by the PTA but rather by TvE. What's the difference? PTA does this big schpeal about how they are not going to due fundraisers where you have to sell crap, they will just take donations. If they get enough, no selling crap. I will gladly write the check for $100, which is the suggested amount per child so we don't have to sell crap. Well, this is the 2nd week of school and we already have something to sell. I don't think I fit the PTA mom mold, I don't like the politics at work and I don't like the politics at PTA meetings either. I pay my $18 a year so Rich and I can be members, but that is just for the donation really. We will not be attending the meetings, or signing up to be board members, you have to be in the "in crowd" to be elected so what's the point. So maybe I am wrong but I think the PTA thought of this bright idea and told the school to do it, and to add the note that its not PTA sponsored. Conspiracy I tell ya. OK rant done.
