the mcgovern's: JUMP!

Alicyn has danced her little legs off this weekend at the JUMP convention & competition. Its the first competition as a Mini Diva, so you can only imagine how thrilled & excited Miss A was! They danced for most of the day on Saturday (8am-3pm with a short lunch break). They had teachers from So you think you can dance and did all different kinds of dancing from funky jazz to ballet, hip hop, contemporary and tap. Alicyn likes the jazz and hip hop the best. The competition started at 330pm, but we were not scheduled to perform until 1018pm! Yes, that late. After a full day of dance we would have been in complete meltdown without a nap. Alicyn was so tired but didn't want to take a nap. I ended up convincing her to close her eyes for 10 minutes, and that's all it took. 2 hours later she woke up. The whole team performs in the "production". Average age of the whole Lonestar dance team was 13, which is why we were later in the lineup. We actually had girls ranging from 6-16. We rocked, the girls did sooooo good. Especially for their first competition of the season. I can only imagine how good they will be at the end of the season!

All girls had a number, this was the way the teacher kept track of the best dancers. They wrote down their numbers during each class and then the ones that had the most marks got scholarships to come to another JUMP convention for free. Each girl was also required to audition for a scholarship, Alicyn didn't get one, which was disappointing for her but nothing compared to last years "episode". Its hard to be 7 and think you are the best and not be told so by the judges. Alicyn did her best and that's all we want.
