the mcgovern's: Dentist visit; A First for Jaxon

The kids both had dentist appts this morning. We love the place we go, Central Texas Pediatric Dentistry. The office has tons of cool kid stuff, makes the whole dentist office experience a little easier. Today was Jaxon's first ever visit so he was exploring, and Alicyn was showing him around. The floor has the glass tiles, and there is a glass elevator so you can see the office as you come up. We decided that it was best for Alicyn to go first so Jaxon could see what all they do and get a little more comfortable with the whole thing, I am not sure if that worked in our favor or not. He sat very still and quietly watching the 2 techs clean and count her teeth. Her teeth look great, she got a 3 for cleanliness (on a scale of 18, 1 is the best). She got to choose her tooth paste flavor, cookie dough! Now it was time for Jaxon to get his teeth cleaned, and that's when the panic set in. He was not a happy duck, crying, hands in his mouth. As Rich put him in the chair he was begging to not have to do it. Alicyn was encouraging him, and the girls were super nice but he was not happy. They did a super fast cleaning, I think he had green toothpaste. I think the sounds were part of the problem for him. After the cleaning, we waited for Dr. Watts to come in, he took a look at Alicyn's teeth first and said that one of her teeth coming in looks like it might be on the small side. Its just started coming in so he said it my be normal size since the X-ray of it looks fine. Next it was Jaxon's turn, this time Rich laid in the chair and put him on top, that worked much better. He was much more relaxed with Dr. Watts that the girls, I am not sure why. Maybe it was since he was in Rich's lap or that Dr. Watts is super nice. Not sure but we made it through. Both kids got to pick 2 prizes from the prize drawer and got new toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss. Overall the experience went good, we left with 2 happy kids with clean teeth!
