Snip It

The day had finally come. Jaxon had to get his mange, rearranged.

A week or so ago Laura had asked him if he wanted to get his hair cut and his answer was, "Yeauuu". I asked him where he wanted his hair cut and he quickly said, "my bauck (back), Daddy".

There was only one kid in front of us when we arrived, which was great, since they don't take reservations at Snip-Its. This is a children's hair cut place, the same one that we took Alicyn for her first hair cut. Lets just say that Snip-Its has a ton of stuff any kid would want at their hair cut place, I guess since you have already been suckered into the place they figure you will do anything to get your kid to sit still and get their haircut. TVs, toy animals, monster trucks (Jaxon latched on to one that the stylist gave him) etc...

As we waited, I tried to get the camera ready, and of course, I realized I had left the memory card at home in the computer since I was sorting some pictures the night before...DOHHH!!! (Homer Simpson voice needed here). The panic ensued. There was no choice in my mind other than running home to get it since the spare we had is now MIA, UGHHH.

As I calmly raced home (which ever word you want to believe there, please use) to retrieve the memory card as Laura let 2 to 3 other kids pass in front of Jaxon, so the moment could be captured correctly and not with some lame cell phone camera...I returned some 15 minutes later ready to shoot away the fluffy curls :)
Jaxon didn't really know what to think but got into the tall chair without issue. As the lady put the apron on him is when we started downhill. When the clippers came out, he started getting worried, really worried. The stylist lady attempted to tickle him to show him it would not hurt him. She tickled Ali, Mom and I just for reassurance, but it didn't help much. When she started in on his head, this is when he started acting like a group of bee's where attacking the back of his head.
As this is going on with his head, in my head is thinking, "Why is this lady using clippers and not using the scissors, like all the other kids in there"? As clippers got put down, I started to understand her method of mayhem as she used the scissors. As she is cutting and the sound of "snip" is happening on top of his head, he is turning his head as if he's watching a tennis match. We probably would've been there for an hour just to trim his concentration of curls in the back of his head.

He continued to hold his composure with big sister standing by and looking in the mirror from time to time to see what was going on. Then...more clippers for the ears. Mom had to assist holding him down, pinned to her chest so she could go around those little suckers...(Laura typing here: the crazy woman was combing his ears; you know that hurts lady. WTH??) As you can imagine more panic, more crying and then VIOLA!!!! We were done.

As soon as he jumped down from the chair, we asked him if he liked it. He replied, "I like it, Yeauuu". And he put his fingers in the back of his hair just to feel it:) He got a prize and a sucker at the end, but was ok but man he was not a happy camper for about 15 minutes. First hair cut is in the books, and man is he CUTE!
I do have to say it turned out awesome!!! It looks like my little man aged a year or two. He's been telling everyone he saw today..."my haircut, my tried bad" (tried = his version of cried)
