This year Alicyn was all about choosing gifts for people. She put a ton of thought into it (almost too much as a matter of fact, at least for the non shopper in me). Anyway for Rich, she knew right away that she wanted to get him an ice cream maker. Rich & Alicyn have this wonderful cooking thing between them, she loves it, and he really loves teaching her. I am thankful, cause Lord knows that is not my strong suit. We looked and looked for an ice cream maker, they were either huge or tiny. The big ones were just one more thing to try to store in the kitchen of a cook who has all the fancy cooking gear, and the small ones were just too small. One day after school, Ali and I ran to the outlet mall to grab a shirt for my dad. We stumbled across a kitchen store, so decided to give it a shot. BINGO! A Kitchen Aide Ice Cream Making Attachment!!!! Those of you that know Rich well, know that he loves the kitchen aid mixer, so this was the perfect addition and not to small but not huge! We were so proud of our purchase, and had to sneak it into the house when we got home since Rich beat us home. We wrapped it, Rich must have asked her 10 times what it was, and she is not good at keeping secrets. I thought for sure that she would tell him before Christmas. He would ask, "is it this?", knowing it wasn't and she not just answer with I am not telling, she would say, no but it can be used.....luckily I intercepted that conversation before she spoiled the whole thing. Poor thing is a sucker.....Rich was thrilled on Christmas morning when he opened this bad boy up.
The first flavor from the McGovern ice cream shop was cookies n cream. Of course, the best flavor ever! Alicyn and Jaxon crushed the oreos, Alicyn poured them in while Jaxon just ate them. This ice cream is not like the ice cream we used to make at my grandmas with the salt rocks, its fancy and requires cooking and cooling and way too much work for me. But Rich enjoyed it, duh was there ever a doubt. He is already talking about the next flavor. This ice cream is delicious, super super rich...haha no pun intended. I guess that's what you get with heavy cream. Yummy! Don't you agree that this was a fabulous gift idea from Alicyn to her daddy! Such a thoughtful girl!

When you say "Say cheese", this is what you get these days. Cheeeeesy smile with a bit of oreo.

Cutie boy needed a bath after all those oreos. See that mark on his elbow, that's months after a bad wreck on the bike at school. Scared at age 2. Man what are we in for with this one....

And another, cause it was too cute.
