Dance Mom

First let em say that I will go back and add photos for the beginning of Dec but after this weekend, I felt like I needed to say a few things.

Ok, I am a not a girly girl. I know, you already knew this but thought I should tell you just in case you forgot. My girl is a girly girl. I mean girly girly girl. We don't mesh well where girly things are considered. This weekend was packed full of dance. Winter recital was Saturday, performance at the lame Zilker Tree was Sunday. Here's my recap on recital day...

Saturday started out great, Rich cooked breakfast like he normally does on Saturday mornings. I ran to Target to get a gift for Alicyn's "dance sister". Its a fun little thing they do for each other before a performance or competition. I got her some cute toe socks, and then went to Hobby Lobby and got her a pillow that said "diva" since she is on the diva squad. Abbey is on the team that 2 years older than Alicyn. While at Target, I got the liquid eye liner that I had to have for Alicyn. Thank goodness I bought 2 kinds (not cause I am smart but only cause I couldn't remember the recommended brand). More to come about the liquid liner later. After Target & Hobby Lobby, then to office depot for wide rubber bands. Who knew that when you wear tights your boot covers slip to your ankles. Wide rubber bands are the trick. Only a dance mom would know this. So, then I realized I was missing pink tights, somehow they are gone. Alicyn has no clue where they are and rather than fight with her, I stopped at Dorthy's dance to get new ones. Pink tights are a requirement for ballet. No if, ands or buts accepted. So after running like a mad woman all over Round Rock, I got home and started getting Alicyn ready. We had to be at the Performing Arts center by 1pm. Hair was easy, parted on the side in a low pony tail. I got that no problem. Makeup started out OK, until the liquid liner. I have never in my life used it, and putting it on a 6 year old who squints and blinks is probably no the best place to learn. or maybe it is now that I think of it since it must be easier on me. Anyway, had I known what i was doing, I would have waited on the liquid liner since it has to be reapplied after the fake eyelashes are applied. another who knew moment for me. So we got the pink tights, covered by the suntan tights on, and then the dance warm ups over top and headed to the performing arts center. In the dressing room is where I had other dance moms to help, thank GOD! without Shannon Thomas I am not sure if Alicyn would have had fake lashes. She is a pro at this since her girls have danced on the team for years. So Shannon slapped on the eyelashes, and had the liner on in no time flat. I was watching in amazement. Alicyn said they made her eyes feel heavy but once she saw herself with them on, she LOVED them. I told you she was girly! I had the wrong Revlon lip color, again thankful for the other dance moms who spotted that it was not #60 like it was supposed to be. We did the finishing touches and she was ready. Finally. i was beat. I watched the show from back stage since she has so many changes, and different shoes and hair changes. We did fine after the initial makeup application, touch ups are much less labor intensive. Jaxon sat in the audience with Rich, mom, dad, GG, Mark and Debbie & Tonya. The show was 2.5 hours, and amazing as it is, he made it through. He did take a little cat nap for 45 minutes, I am certain that is why he was able to make it. Alicyn was awesome! (at least that is what they tell me, I only had a side view).

This girl is in her element, she loves loves loves dancing. She loves performing. She loves the girly girl stuff. So proud of her.
