So here's a funny story, the lady in the picture is Alicyn's 1st, 2nd grade teacher. How confusing is that? Well we got to experience what surplus means in the school first hand this year. Ms. Moerdyk(more-dyke) (which by the way rich pronounced More-dick the first time he met her. lol). was fabulous, at least for the week we had her. She was awesome according to Alicyn, she was loving every minute of the 2nd grade until we got a letter on the Friday of the first week that she had been "surplussed". What this means is that they didn't have enough kids to fill her class so she got pulled. The way I understand it is that she is still under contract so she is getting paid but they are looking for another job for her. I am sure some other school snatched her up. This was her first year teaching 2nd grade, she is a former special education teacher. I was a it nervous about that at first but it turned out to be fine. All 1 week of it that is. Anyway, Alicyn is now in Ms. Sheridan's class. I don't have a picture of this woman, nor have I met her face to face but she sounds ok over the phone. Alicyn says she is nice but she is not beaming like she was the first week of 2nd grade. Holy moly, 2nd grade people, where did the time go? I have to set up some time to go meet Ms. Sheridan, in the mean time I am trying to give her the benefit of the doubt. She didn't chose this situation, she just happened to have one of the smaller classes and ended up with 5 of the kiddo's from Alicyn's 1st class.

All ready for her first day of school. 2nd grade!

Peace mom, well not really peace but it looks that way. I told her to hold up 2 since she is in 2nd grade. She is on the verge of telling me "enough already" with the walking her to class and taking pictures but I will take all the opportunities that I can while she is young enough to tolerate and before I become the not so cool mom. She has lots of friends in her class this year, including Sean who might just be her secret crush. He's just not into her, but you know he will regret it someday. lol.
