Planning makes perfect

In an effort to become debt free in 2010, we have started meal planning. Not normal for us at all, we are much more "on the fly" decision makers. But, we are really trying to make dent in the debt, and the only way is to hunker down and make a budget and stick to it. I have this weeks whole menu planned, we will see how good we are at sticking to the plan. The cool thing about this weeks menu is that I can make everything without Rich!! Shocking,I know. OK fine, not everything, Wayne is making the chicken enchiladas but I bought all the stuff and took it to him so technically I think that should count. I went to the store with a list, and a budget, and came with in $36.00. I know some of you that are already on the budget, think $36.00 is a lot, but for us that's a great start. I did deviate from the list a tiny bit but I bought nothing that I wanted, only what we needed. The meal planning us just a baby step in the whole process but its a start. Wish us luck.

Thank goodness my parents gave us both Starbucks gift cards for Christmas, cause that was an expense that we were eliminating (mainly me). Mine came with a funny note that said "use this when you really "need" it. :)
