Bay-Gulls

Why don't seagulls fly in the bay? Cause then they would be called "bay-gulls". LOL, Alicyn's joke of the week.

To the beach we went, to our favorite little off the beaten path condo's, Island House....this place has been around since the 60's, its small, and none of the pre-madona's that come at some beach hotels, its fabulous. If you are thinking of a beach trip, we highly recommend it. Family friendly is an understatement. Alicyn became a boogie board champion this year, no animosity at all was ready to just do it. The beach was clean, not much seaweed (which Jaxon loves and Alicyn hates); perfect weather; no tar...we couldn't have asked for more. Jaxon jumped the waves as they came in but was a bit timid, he wanted Rich to hold him for most of the time in the water. The tide was weird this year, the sand bar was just a few feet out so it was almost like 2 separate beaches. We played putt putt, I am pretty sure that we could have done without that, have you ever tried to play putt putt with a 2 year old? He hit the ball like a hockey puck (surprise), he picked up our balls, he kicked our balls, he threw our balls and it was 1000 degrees. (and that was in the morning, I can only imagine what it was like at 3pm). We rode the ferry just for fun, our place was on padre island but we drove over to Mustang Island for the ferry. Jaxon had a bit of a fit when he had to get back in his seat after getting out on the ferry. (another surprise). Alicyn kept asking where the sharks were :). We brought food from home and made one trip to HEB, it was great, the kids loved it. Both of them favor the pool more than the beach though which is not what we expected. After the first 30 minutes on the beach, Jaxon was saying "no beach". We swam and beached several times a day. Alicyn met some girls that she played with in the pool, and Jaxon mastered jumping off the side. "My go under daddy", "Ready set jump" and "1, 2, 4, 7, go" were all things we heard from JT. And we learned very quickly, he is coming when he is ready so the best bet is for you to have all eyes on Jaxon. Thank goodness Alicyn found friends cause she was not appreciating the fact that Jaxon was having to be caught. We swam until 10pm almost every night, that was so awesome for Alicyn. Our kids have good skin for tanning, unlike thier mama....enjoy!!!!
