Just hours before I landed in Austin from the trip to Portland, Alicyn had meet the teacher at school. I was beyond bummed to be missing this but I knew that Daddy could handle it. Meet the teacher for the "older" kids is different than kindergarten, there is no big production here they announce your name to a cafeteria full of anxious kids and parents, you just go the school and look for your name on the list. Kinda boring if you ask me, and I am sure that Alicyn liked the production better. At any rate, Rich, Alicyn, Grandma-A-Rado, and Jaxon headed to the school to check it out, school supplies in hand. Alicyn will be in Mrs. Maggerts class this year. Pronounced just like it looks MAG-ERT. We thought this was kinda funny, first Mrs. Farque and now Maggert. What is it with the funny names? Apparently there is a first grade teacher named Ms. Hiene (pronounced Hiney) so I guess it could have been worse. Mrs. Maggart is young, its her 3rd year at TVE, she seems very sweet and was happy to see all the kids. Alicyn only has one familiar face in her room this year, that's Melanie. I called just as they were leaving the school to get ice cream, Alicyn was super excited. This is going to be another great school year. I just hope Mrs. Maggart can live up to the standards that Mrs. Farque set. Why couldn't she just move up to first grade with our kids again?
