No Place like home

Any of you that know me well know that I am not the traveling kind. Its my parents fault cause they had the bright idea to take a 3 week vacation to Washington DC, and DRIVE there from Austin. (when I was a tween, I might add). Since then, I have not been a traveler. If the trip is longer than 8 hours by car, its too long and should require flying. Although, I am not a fan of flying either really. Its so complicated with security, and lay overs and the whole checking in 24 hours before....just too complicated. I have been asked to travel for work many times, many to me is more than 3 by the way. I have gone, sucked it up and flown. Left my family and done it, for the job. Last week, I was asked to go to Plano this week, yes just Plano, just north of Dallas, should be no big deal, well it is for me. I had talked myself into the fact that it was only 1 night and I could do it. Well, with the tear ducts, and the bug, going to Plano for work really didn't work for me or my family, especially not this week. BUT, for the sake of not getting fired (OK that's an exaggeration), I left last night about 815PM, for Plano. Rich was left here to finish the bedtime routine, and get the kids going in the morning. He of course, had no problem at all with this, but I on the other hand who hates going anywhere especially without my family was suffering a bit. Thankfully, my grandmother offered to come with me. Dell paid for the hotel room and my mom was convinced I needed a chaperon since I was driving late at night. It ended up being a pleasant drive to Plano, grandma and I talked lots. We got there just after 11, got settled and went to bed. This morning, I got up and went to my meetings at the Perot Headquarters. While I was working grandma visited with her twin brother Jack and his wife Barbara. Shannon reminded me today how cool it is that I got to spend that time with my grandmother over these last 2 days, just me and her. I can't tell you the last time that we did anything alone together, I am sure I was a kid. We got back home about 530 this afternoon, and man am I glad. As cheesy as it sounds, for me there really is "no place like home".

This afternoon while I was gone, Rich took this video of Jaxon saying one of his new favorite phrases. The was totally random, out of the blue that he started saying this today which makes it all the more funny if you ask me. See what I miss when I travel? Awww man!
