100th day of School

Seriously, could we have a better teacher? Here is her memo of the day. Yes, she is still sending us an email EVERY SINGLE DAY letting us know what they did, and telling us funny stories, reminders etc. Who does that? No teachers I have ever heard of before. Some say, oh its her 1st year, that will change, but I am not so sure it will. She is just that great! The way I see it, we are super duper lucky. I wish she would move to 1st grade next year!

Subject: 100th Day Memo!!!

Hi Parents! HAPPY 100TH DAY OF SCHOOL!!! We had a great day today! Everything we did was centered around the number 100! This morning our class had a "100th Day Breakfast." Each child got a cereal stick and two powder donuts to make the number 100. I had to laugh because one girl in our class said, "What do you do if you already ate breakfast?" My answer was, "Well then you are lucky because you get to eat breakfast TWICE today!!" She said, "Oh my that's awesome!!!" :o) During our writing time, the class completed this writing prompt: "If I had 100 dollars, I would buy...." It's amazing to me some of the things that they wrote. One student wrote that she would buy a hotel! Another student wrote that he would buy a flat screen TV! I asked a few of the children what they would buy, and I thought it was so funny that one boy said, "I would buy a big calendar just like yours!" Of all the things he could buy, he wanted a "big calendar!" SO cute! After recess we made 100th day hats and wrote the numbers 1-100 in a chart. I think my favorite activity of the morning was having the children predict where they would be if "they took 100 steps." We talked about it, and then each child drew a picture of his/her prediction. One girl said that we would end up in Colorado! Another child said "the airport," or "Disney Land!" After the kids had drawn their predictions, we actually walked 100 steps (and ended up very close to the cafeteria)! I think some of the students were a little disappointed that we didn't make it all the way to Disney Land! :o)

I took lots of pictures all day, so I'll get them on the website this weekend!

After Specials, the kinder kids rotated from class to class to do different activities with each teacher (We did not eat a snack today because of the rotations)! Be sure to ask your child about his/her day! Also, this morning I had a 100th day certificate on each child's desk! I had the students put their certificates in the back of their daily folders so you can see them! I can't believe that we've already been in school for 100 days! Your kiddos have learned and grown so much! And I must admit, I have also learned and grown in many ways! I would like to take a minute to say THANK YOU!! You, as parents, have been so supportive and understanding as your children AND me experience Kindergarten together! We have made lots and lots of wonderful memories, and I am so excited about the next few months! Without your help, NONE of this would have been possible! So again, thank you!! I feel so privileged that you allow me to spend 7 precious hours a day with your child. I love my job, and I know it will get better and better every year. But, I will NEVER forget my babies in room C107 :o).

***No notes today!! Have a wonderful evening!

  1. I love it! What a great idea...I'll have to pocket that for my soon to come teaching days. Can I go to school with Alicyn?
