10 years of marriage. Wow. It's been a long winding road, with hills, sharp turns and long straight stretches. If I had a chance to go back and start over, I wouldn't change a thing about this route we choose. In this 10 years, we have had joy, pain, laughter, crying, fights, makeup’s, wins, and loses. In this 10 years, we have lived in 3 houses, driven 6 different cars, had 11 jobs, 2 beautiful children, 4 dogs (one was a hand me down), and 4 cats. We have learned so much about each other in these 10 years. Like during a bad fight that its better just to let Rich be alone, then to push him to talk right away, even though that's what would be better for me. Or that it really doesn't matter how the towels are folded, as long as they are in the cabinet. In this 10 years, we have battled infertility, which came with some loses, but also came with the 2 best gifts in the world. We won that battle, and I am hoping we will win again someday. We have become closer to each other than I ever knew was possible. We know what each other are thinking. Tonight, we ate dinner at one of our favorite places, we remembered our wedding and what we were doing a certain points throughout the day. It was much warmer 10 years ago today. As we left the restaurant we remembered the bird seed being thrown on us and the champagne that was sprayed in Rich's eyes. I remembered telling one of the frat boys that DJ'd to play the uncut version of "back that ass up" even though it was an inappropriate song for some of our guests, I remembered that the cake that one of Rich's best friends made us as a wedding gift looked like the leaning tower of Pisa for a few minutes. I thought my dad was going to have a cat.
I don't know what's in store for us over the next 10 years, but I am sure that we will be together, raising a teenage daughter, and an almost teenage son. I know that will bring different challenges than we faced during the first 10 years of our marriage, but that doesn't scare me. I know that together we are a strong team, we can handle any cards we are dealt.
P.S. the reference to Tin in the title is because the 10th anniversary gift should be something made of tin :)
Happy 10th anniversary! Your post is very sweet and makes me wonder where we will be on our 10th anniversary. See you soon!
